Poisoned Dollars: A Western Adventure (A Sean Prentis Western Book 1)

About

Sean Prentis is a school teacher, living a quiet life in a small town in Kansas during the 1880s. But Prentis is a man with a past that is rapidly catching up with him.

Having served with distinction in the Union forces during the Civil War, Prentis fell into hard times once peace was signed. He became a cowboy, working to take cattle across to Denver alongside men who were hard and uncompromising.

A scrape with some local toughs led to one of Prentis’s friends, Ned, getting himself killed. The desire for vengeance clouded everyone’s judgement and in the ensuing violence, Prentis killed a man. The law deemed it accidental homicide, but even so, Prentis was put away for ten years. Given parole after serving barely half of his sentence, he takes up a new job. During his time inside, he’d received visits from a kind, helpful man of the cloth and his daughter, Amy. Now free, Prentis meets her and soon they are married, but their life continues to be troubled as others come to reap the father’s vengeance. And something more. A former pupil, now grown, has robbed a bank and he wants Prentis to hide the money. The threat of murdering his wife leaves Prentis with little choice. Suspicions and accusations fly and soon everything comes to head in the most awful way imaginable. Now, it is Prentis who has vengeance on his mind, and he will not rest until he brings it all to an end.

This is the first in a series following Prentis as he travels to Wyoming for the final confrontation.
